Bald and in the Way – A Bluegrass Tribute to Jerry Garcia

“Bald and in the Way” was formed with a deep love of bluegrass music, The Grateful Dead and a shared family history of male pattern baldness. Jerry Garcia had strong bluegrass roots long before he joined The Grateful Dead and continued to play with many acoustic outfits throughout his life.

“Bald and in the Way” draws material from Garcia’s several acoustic-leaning side projects (such as “Old and in the Way” where they derived their namesake) as well as timeless Grateful Dead classics. This is a show for casual and hardcore Deadheads, bluegrass aficionados and amateurs, music lovers and everyone in between. Expect tight-harmonies, fast-pickin’ and a whole lot of grinnin’!

Come out and see the official debut of “Bald and in the Way” at Eddie’s Attic on Sunday, August 4th!

“Bald and in the Way” is…

Scott Glazer – upright bass
Michael Chesin – guitar, mandolin
Roger Baldowski – banjo
Max Godfrey – fiddle, mandolin
Parker Smith – guitar

In Cahoots! November 19 at Venkman’s

In a couple of weeks, I will be revisiting the music of The Band with my fellow Elegant Bachelors at Venkman’s. It has been a Thanksgiving tradition for us to pay tribute to this music and at this show 4 years ago I met my wife. She was the one dancing uninhibited in the front, so come on out and maybe you’ll meet that special someone! See you at the show!

In Cahoots!

Smith’s – 2/26

Greetings folks!

It’s been way too long since a proper Bandwith show. Full band that is…playing original music in Atlanta. I’m very excited to be back at our old stomping grounds, upstairs at Smith’s Olde Bar on February 26. Click here to RSVP.

That’s a Friday night and we’ll be opening for one of my favorite bands, The Congress. I saw these guys at Aisle 5 recently and they crushed it, they get better every time I see them. So grab a ticket ahead of time, because they are building a big following. We’ll play an extended set starting at 9 pm.

I will also be playing with my jazz outfit LONG HORN on Tuesday, February 16 at Churchill Grounds. This is the best place in Atlanta to see jazz and we’re looking forward to swinging with y’all.

Increase the Bandwith!

Happy New Year

It’s been a great year for music. I’m finishing up my first year at grad school in Austin and have met and played with some amazing musicians. I also got the opportunity to demo a custom amp built by Winchester Amps out of Texas. You can watch a video of the demo here.

I’m looking forward to ending things on a high note tomorrow night at Steve’s Live Music. Steve’s is an all ages venue in Sandy Springs and kids under 18 get in for FREE. This will definitely be a family affair, so feel free to bring the whole family down for some live jazz. For those of you of age, there is a $10 cover at the door.

We are playing two sets starting at 6 pm and will be playing mostly standards along with a couple of originals and holiday tunes. I will be joined by some of Atlanta and Austin’s finest musicians…

Mace Hibbard – Sax
Zack Varner – Sax
Scott Glazer – Bass
Brandon Kunka – Drums

If you haven’t heard LONG HORN you can listen to our album Long Live Jazz Vol. I and read more about LONG HORN on my website here. You can also purchase the album on iTunes or listen in on Spotify.

Long Live Jazz Vol. 1

It’s been a busy summer here in Austin, Texas. In the “live music capital of the world” it’s hard to walk down the street with out encountering some form of live music. I’ve been fortunate to meet some great musicians and have been playing a combination of solo shows, full band shows and a healthy dose of Jazz with my new project LONG HORN. You can read more about LONG HORN here.

This week I have released a live performance of LONG HORN entitled “Long Live Jazz Vol. 1”. One of the songs clocks in at over 10 minutes so the album is literally Long… Live… and Jazz. As a music teacher, student and Jazz advocate I am also proclaiming “Long Live Jazz” as a means to keep the art form alive. And finally, “Long” refers to the band name which in turn refers to the “Texas Longhorns”… a triple or quadruple (!) entendre if you will…but I digress. You can purchase the album on iTunes here or listen in on Spotify. Long Live Jazz!

P.S. Check out the video of our arrangement of the Game of Thrones theme

We’re opening for Paul and Fred of LITTLE FEAT!!

Next Saturday I will be opening for Paul Barerre and Fred Tackett of LITTLE FEAT!  Little Feat is one of my favorite bands of all time and Paul and Fred have been playing as an acoustic duo for quite some time.  You can listen to them in action here, to say I’m excited is an understatement.

I’m bringing out the full band for this one and for those of you that live in Austin, the show is at The Historic Scoot Inn next Saturday, June 28.  You can buy tickets online here and even get to meet the band.  Check out our website for more dates this summer and don’t forget to increase the bandwith!
