Piedmont Summer Tour Video

CLICK HERE for a video recap of our summer tour

The video was filmed and edited by my good friend Craig Newman and is an accurate portrayal of our time on the road. Big thanks to all of our friends and hosts along the east coast for your spirited reception and revelry!  We hope to be back very soon.

I am playing a solo show in Savannah this Saturday at the Sentient Bean and a full band show over Labor Day weekend in Miami opening for The Mike Dillon Band at Will Call on Saturday, August 31.  The Miami show will feature two very talented college friends of mine – Taylor Byrd (bass) and Brian Lange (drums) rounding out the rhythm section.

Our only Atlanta full band show for this fall is on September 27 at VINYL and you can buy tickets here.  We are going to take some time off this fall to record our followup album to 2011’s Garden Hills.  More info on that soon!  Until then…

Increase the Bandwith!

See you on “tur”

The time has come for us to embark on the final leg of our Piedmont Summer Tour.  We officially started the tour in Birmingham and also had a great show in Serenbe opening for Col. Bruce Hampton. The remaining dates of the tour are below ending with a very special “homecoming” show at Smith’s Olde Bar on Friday, July 12 where we will be joined by Brad Rikard on sax.  It’s been a while since we headlined upstairs at Smith’s and this will be a great show with The Deadfields and Adam Klein and the Wildfires opening.  I was watching Jeopardy and Alex Trebek offered some timely words of encouragement in the form of one of his categories…so, let’s go on “tur”!

From Wikipedia….The Piedmont is a plateau region located in the eastern United States between the Atlantic Coastal Plain and the main Appalachian Mountains, stretching from New Jersey in the north to central Alabama in the south. The Piedmont province is a physiographic province of the larger Appalachian division. The name “Piedmont” comes from the French term for the same physical region, literally meaning “foothill”, ultimately from Latin “pes montium”, meaning “the foot of the mountains”….The Piedmont region is closely associated with the Piedmont blues, a style of blues music that originated there in the late 19th century. Most Piedmont blues musicians came from Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia. During the Great Migration, Black Americans migrated to the Piedmont. With the Appalachian Mountains to the west, those who might otherwise have spread into rural areas stayed in cities and were thus exposed to a broader mixture of music than those in, for example, the rural Mississippi delta. Thus, Piedmont blues was influenced by many types of music such as ragtime, country, and popular songs—styles that had comparatively less influence on blues music in other regions.

Summer Tour + Solo CD Release + Peachtree Tavern

Lots of news at Bandwith headquarters!  It’s been a busy spring and we’re gearing up for our summer tour.  This year we’ll be in Washington, DC around July 4 and several other cities in North Carolina and Virginia.  Check out our tour dates for a show near you.  This is the first time the full band has gone on the road and we’re excited to hit the ground running.

I have just released a compilation of live recordings from my last solo tour entitled “Solo Flight.”  It is a digital only release – you can download the free album or pay what you want here. Most of these songs have not been released and I hope you enjoy them.

In other news, we are playing our only show of the spring on April 27 at Peachtree Tavern.  Our good friend and fellow University of Miami alum, Johnny Shortridge will be opening the evening with his band, Cool June.  I played with them when I was in Nashville and they have a great sound.  See the poster below for details and click here to RSVP to the event.

P.S. I still have a few shirts left from the solo tour and other goodies that you can purchase at our online store here..

We are playing a special show on Saturday, March 2 at Smith’s Olde Bar opening for two of our favorite groups, American Aquarium and The Higher Choir.  Smith’s has asked us to sell tickets before the show and they are going fast.  If you’d like a ticket, you can send us a check or pay via PayPal.  Here’s are the details for the show and a picture of the tickets…they sure are pretty.

For you out-of-towners, we’ll be webcasting part of our show at Patio Jams at the University of Miami on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 12:30-1:00 pm (EST).You can listen in here.  Think of it as our Valentine’s Day gift to you…the webcast is donation based so you can pay whatever you like.  This Saturday we are playing at Swamp Stomp, a music festival that I co-founded and is near and dear to my heart.  Featuring some of Florida’s best bands and some national talent as well (Fishbone and Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds), it is quickly becoming one of the premier concerts in Miami.

In other news, I have a few solo shows coming up this spring so check out our tour dates for a current list of shows.  Also, keep an eye out for a compilation of recordings from my recent tour that will be released in the next few months.

Much love to you all. Happy Valentine’s day people of the world.

Swamp Stomp / February 16

I am venturing down to Miami on February 16 for a very special show, the 5th annual Swamp Stomp Music Festival.  In addition to Miami holding a soft spot in my heart from my college days at the University of Miami, I also co-founded this festival with some good friends of mine.  One of which, Ryan Gregg will be joining me on keyboards.

I’ll also have fellow UM alums Taylor Byrd (bass) and Brian Lange (drums) rounding out the rhythm section for these gigs.  We’re playing a show on February 14 on the University of Miami campus at Patio Jams at noon and again at Swamp Stomp on Saturday. Looking forward to reuniting with my long lost Miami brethren and reveling in some warm weather for a few days this February.

Solo Flight Winter Tour

10/27/12 – Solo Flight Winter Tour

Poster Design by Nathaniel Deas

I am going on a solo tour this winter with shows in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia. Below is a list of current dates with a few more to be announced soon.  You can head over to the “Shows” page for details on the individual shows.

I came up with the name for the tour (“Solo Flight”) as a nod to one of my favorite guitarists Charlie Christian, and one of his songs bearing the same name. This is the first time I’ve played in some of these cities and I’m very excited to explore what each town has in store. Hope to see you out on the road.
